Taking a break

After a busy December we a taking a well needed and deserved break. In December we did 4 parties in 4 weeks and I turned down several potential parties for New Years Eve because I wanted to spend if with the family. We will be coming up on fire department party season soon and it will be busy again. The fire department party season will end just in time for the start of wedding season.  We have a bunch of weddings already on the books for this season. My last party was also the last one for my existing set up. I loved this stet up but it was not practical to load into some venues in the area. I have been working on my new facade that is unlike anything else in the area and is a modular unit which will make load in easy even if the venue does not have an elevator or ramp. Look for photos soon as I will post them when I have the finishing touches done

New service we have added to our bag of tricks

Tonight I am doing a wedding reception at the Endicott Visitors Center and it will be the first time I am using my TEXT YOUR REQUEST system. his new feature will allow guests send their requests or dedications to me via text message. I felt like in this day and age of text messaging being so popular why not let the guest text me. Some people are afraid to walk up to the DJ and request a song so now they can do it from their seats. I have a seperate number set for just this new feature and it will only be used for requests during the event. As always I would love for guests to come up in person to make request because I like to interact with them this is just another tool we can use. I am always looking for new ideas to set us apart from what the other DJ's in the area are doing. We will see how it goes.

Chad and Brionna Wedding Ceremony and Reception @ The Barn in Candor NY 5/25/2013

Great wedding ceremony and reception last night at The Barn in Candor for The new Mr and Mrs Hettig Chad and Brionna. The venue was great but a little cold in the begining but we heated things up as the dancing began. It took a while to get things going and only the kids were dancing at first but we hit our stride and rocked out the last 2 1/2 hours hard and non stop. The couple requested Country music along with a mix of Pop. Pop was not a problem because I have it all but I needed to download a lot of country because I do not keep current on it because I do not have many requests for country but I will tell you there is some great new country music out there and now I have it in my arsonal to use at my next gig. This was the first time I have done a wedding solo (Patti had to work) and was a little nervous because I not only did the reception but the ceremony as well but everything went off without a hitch and a good time was had by all. The ceremony was going to be held outside but due to the weather it was moved inside. I forgot to take my camera and that was ok because I would not have had time for pictures anyway so I only got these few with my phone. I knew several people there and they are gonna send me some so when I get them I will post them to the Blog. Congratulations to Chad And Brionna and thank you for having Firehouse DJ & Karaoke Service as part of your special day.

New Venue for Firehouse DJ & Karaoke Service The Barn in Candor NY

First time at this venue in Candor. The building is a 150 year old barn that has been converted for use as a banquet hall. The weather was cold for late May but in Upstate NY you never know what to expect. The building was beautiful inside but it was freezing in there because you see through the cracks in the barn boards. The owner of the barn supplied 4 propane patio heaters and once the building was full of people it warmed up. The building itself is 3 floors inculding Basement that has a full kitchen, ice machine and storage rooms 1st floor with seating for about 70, 2 bathrooms, a bar area and has a ceiling height of about 30 feet 2nd floor loft that is above the 1st floor bathrooms and bar area with seating for about 50 that overlooks the main floor Load in was quite a challange because I had to K turn my trailer about 4 times on the lawn to get the ramp set on sidewalk and the 4 foot door to enter the building was a pain to control due to the wind blowing it closed and I could not prop it open because the wind was blowing all the favors and table clothes off the tables. Load out was even worse because I did not want to try and line up with the sidewalk again so I rolled everything down the sidewalk ( about 200' total) to the parking lot and into my trailer. All in all it was the reception was a great success and a pretty cool place to play in but I know if I go back there again I will add on additional cost for the load in and the distance from my office. Upload troubles

I am having trouble uploading phoots due to poor wireless signal here. I will post them on Facebook if I can. We are having a awesome time. Only an hour left

Set up at the Relief Pitcher

Only problem with the Relief Pitcher is the low ceilings so my set up is not ideal but we will make it work

Hillcrest/Port Dick Fire Companies Annual Awards Dinner

WE are all set up and ready to go for what is sure to be a great party tonight for Department 35 and 55. This is my 3rd year doing the party for Hillcrest but the first year it is combined with Port Dick Fire. It is a wild party with just 1 department so I can only imagine it will be twice as fun with 2. Best part is I do not think I will have a hall manager come and tell me the music is too loud. I will try to update the blog with pictures and updates all night long but I may be solo tonight so it might not be easy to ROCK the party, take photos and update all at the same time.
